Last Day of BCP's.....YES!!!!

I will be taking my last birth control pill tonight which is very exciting. Although at some times it felt like that 21 days was taking forever, it actually did kind of fly by...it doesn't feel like 3 weeks since I started. I'm just so excited to start my cycle!!

I read an interesting article last night in the IVF booklet that my Fertility center gave me. It talked about insurance and infertility. It said that most women, because insurance doesn't cover fertility treatment in most cases, strive to get pregnant with twins or more...thinking that they might only have enough money for one shot at IVF. That these women would risk they complications of a multiple pregnancy (to themselves and to the babies) without thinking twice, just in case they never got to try again. It got me thinking, insurance covers pre-mature babies and basically all other complications that could come with a multiple pregnancy...which in a high percentage of mp's, they are pre-mature. Why won't insurance give us coverage for fertility to ensure a more healthy normal pregnancy, so that women won't be so determined to transfer as many embryos as possible to have multiples.
I'm very fortunate to have at least some insurance coverage, but in a majority of fertility cases, they don't have that same luck. I hope that one day this changes, and fertility is an automatic feature in insurance coverage...every woman should have a chance to have a baby without going bankrupt.

Okay, so enough of that. This past Saturday we were fortunate to host a golf tournament charity event for Kyle and my good friend, Michael Gotzens. As many of you know, Mike was vacationing with Kyle and I in VA this past fourth of July when he dove into shallow water and broke his C5 vertabrea. Mike has undergone 2 neck surgeries and countless hours of physical therapy, but still remains paralyzed from the waist down. Mike has been extremely strong and determined through this whole ordeal, his high spirits have inspired his friends and family, he has really kept US going. Below are a few pictures from the golf tournament, Mike was able to get on a golf cart and be drove around to all the holes so that he could see everyone. We were blessed with 70 degree weather on a November day in Maryland. He was so happy to be outside, and to be with his friends. The day truly demonstrated how much Mike is loved by all. The Michael Gotzens Foundation received $7128.00 from the GOTZ Strength Golf Tournament and it was a huge success. Crystal and I cannot wait to start planning the next one.
